How To by Jennifer Crone
If you’re getting married and you’re a New Yorker you have 2 things to be excited about! But how can you share your exciting news with New York? There’s no better place than the New York Times, but of course. This week we tell you how to submit your wedding, next week we’ll go beyond the step by step and tell you how to make it in the New York Times!
- You must be a registered member of the New York Times online to submit your wedding. Scary? No way! All you do is submit your email address and some info about yourself (you can opt out or choose “other” for every category except sex).
- Check out their How To Submit a Wedding Page for guidelines and deadlines. Most importantly you must submit six weeks prior to your wedding date. This is not a deadline you want to overlook. Timeliness is everything. Begin to write your announcement 8 weeks to allow for edits, spell checks, friend/family/fiance checks, and mailing time.
- Fill out the simple form with all the specific details of your event and those included (that would be you and groomy). They have a “sample announcement” as a guideline and encouragement to describe in detail how you met. There is also a place to upload photos.
But what to say?? Which photos to submit?? See you next Tuesday for Part 2 when I tell you How To – Get Your Wedding in the New York Times!
