The BEST beauty tips from Gloss and Glam Girls

Beauty Tips from celebrity turned bridal make up and hair artists Gloss and Glam. These glossy girls know their stuff.

Skin: Any breakouts you see on your skin are the results of change that happens eight weeks prior to the breakout. Three months before your wedding you should formalize your skin plan. Stick to the plan and do not introduce any new products to the skin (this includes not just lotions, sunscreens, etc, but also fragrances and laundry detergents)

Tanning: I have met many brides that have chosen to go to the tanning salon before their wedding. ( I do not recommend this…its toxic for your skin) If you are going to go to a tanning salon please pick a spray tan, since it is not harmful to the skin. I recommend Mystic Level One.  However tan you plan to be at your wedding should be the same level of tan you are at your wedding trial. If you are pale at your trial, and tan at your wedding, you will have changed your makeup look completely.

Hair: Every girl secretly wants Barbarella’s hair, right? To achieve volume and bounce in your hair, after you’ve round brushed the top section of your head, wrap it on a velcro roller (size depends on the length of your hair and how much wave you’d like to achieve) while it’s still warm and spray it lightly with a workable hairspray like Sebastian Reshaper Zero Gravity. Let it cool and set, then unroll it and finger comb. For a little extra oomph, you can heat the hair on the roller with your blowdryer and let it cool again.

Bachelorette Party!

When planning a New York City bachelorette party be sure to think outside the box. A fun thing to do is a scavenger hunt through the city. Another idea is a Gloss and Glam Beauty Party. Gloss and Glam parties are luxurious events that include makeovers, beauty trend classes, MAKE YOUR OWN lipstick, lip gloss, perfume, fragrance reed diffusers, organic lotions, or candles! Its truly a girls’ night out. Not only do you leave looking fabulous, you can leave with a look that’s truly you in your personalized lip color!

Get Healthy Summer Skin

Manic Mondays by Lauren Cooper

Sun, sweat and stress…a summer bride’s skin’s worst enemy.  If you’re anything like me, summer makes your skin shiny and your hair frizzy. But have no fear!  These tips will keep you looking like the glowing bride you truly are!

  • Relax: Seriously!  Doing something to relieve your stress levels will help keep breakouts away.  Try some of the exercises from my Sweat the Stress Away blog or do your own regime. Just make sure to exercise those break outs away!
  • make up: Estee Lauder

Be Gentle: Use a mild cleanser; if you exfoliate too much you’ll wind up with red, raw or uneven and patchy skin.  Go with a tinted moisturizer instead of heavy foundation or dilute your regular stuff with the moisturizer.  Try this from Clinique!

  • Don’t Melt: To keep your makeup from melting, use a gel bronzer instead of a powder over moisturizer.  It will blend easier and create a dewy, glowing look.  Stick to cream blush and shadows as well.  Powdered foundation tends to streak when you sweat…not exactly the look you’re going for in your wedding pics!  To try a more natural, sun-kissed look, stick to a similar color palette for eyes, cheeks and lips.  We love Nars The Multiple for an all over face color.
  • Stay Frizz Free: Instead of automatically rinsing out your conditioner, leave it in for a few minutes.  This will help your hair retain the moisture and give it a little weight to help eliminate frizz.  Avoid overly towel-drying or blow drying your hair; any added stress or rough handling to wet hair make it more susceptible to the dreaded poof.  Instead, run a light serum like Bumble and Bumble Brilliantine through wet hair and keep it wrapped in a towel until almost completely dry.  The Turbie Twist is a great way to keep your hair in a towel and your hands free.
  • Hydrate: This is drilled into our heads everywhere we look but, water does way more than quench your thirst.   It helps your skin stay fresh looking, keeps breakouts at bay, and studies show that people who drink more water have a better body mass index.  So drink up!  If you’re not keen on regular water try a low sodium seltzer or add a flavored Crystal Light packet to your glass.
