The Royal Treatment!

Fashion Fever by Mallory Mayer

It’s Sarah Burton!! The wedding secret of the century has finally been revealed! The Alexander McQueen designer created this one of a kind royal wedding gown for the one and only Princess Catherine.

Kate’s beautiful silhouette was draped in gorgeous white wedding satin, with a modestly plunging neckline and long white lace sleeves. The bride wore a ‘halo’ tiara atop her hair and a sheer white veil covered her face as she waved to the crowd. Her something borrowed: her crown lent to her by the queen. She also had something new: her jewelry. Her diamond drop earrings, inspired by the Middleton family’s new coat of arms, which were a gift from her parents.

And my favorite part of it all…her beautiful face adorned by make-up she did herself!! I have heard grooms admit before that they didn’t recognize their bride as she approached him at the altar, but not this time. William’s bride was there in the way she has always been. Simple. Elegant. Beautiful.

I have mentioned my love of simple elegance and I further hold it true. This beautiful young princess couldn’t have done it any better.

How To – Get Inspired for Fall with Fashion

How To by Jennifer Crone

You need merely to open the glossy pages of a fashion magazine to feel the wonder of fall envelope you–the cool air, the subdued colors, and those gorgeous fall lines. I’ve said it before readers, but there’s no place like New York City in the fall. For Fall 2010 Private Receptions has been on trend watch for months, and we’re thrilled and excited to share with you all that we’ve found. Trends we’re ready to start incorporating into wedding decor and design and that we’re ready to strut down the Manhattan streets on the way to our fabulous office.

Light Greys and Neutral Beiges Last year it was all jewel, jewel, jewel tones! And while they are making an appearance this fall as accent colors, the real heat is in neutrals. Try high waisted beige pants with belled bottoms (goodbye jeggings!) or plaid skirts and blazers in shades of grey. This compliments natural skin tones and blends into the gorgeous natural fall landscape. Designers Chloe and Louis Vuitton are both on the brown band wagon, and greys can be found with every turn of the runway.

Le Red With so many neutral colors hitting the runway there has to be a pop coming from somewhere, and this fall it’s RED. From tomato red to a garnet jewel tone and everything in between, the only pop you need this season is red. Dress your maids in varying shades of red. Pick one hue (say: brick red) and give them each a varying shade, from light brick to dark brick. This adds dimension and gives the opportunity to complement each maid’s skin tone. Too risque for you? Go subtler with red tones on the cheeks or lips.

  • Tip: Remember, if you go glam with your lips or cheeks, make sure your eyes are subdued. No one like a clown bride.

Prints to Make you Saw Rawr Cheetah print, snake skin, faux fur, oh my! Open the page of any fashion mag and it’s like a jungle in there! Every designer from Lanvin to Fendi and Bluemarine are showing bags, jackets, and shoes in natural hued animal prints. Try it yourself, but remember to keep it simple. A little goes a long way with animal prints. Try a leopard print scarf to wrap around the neck instead of a pantsuit. Trust me 😉

Mixed Metallics Mix your metals girls! This season is the time to pile on those chains and charms–to save on the chunky necklaces and bracelets mix and match your own metals. Grab your gold pendant and chain, your silver link trilogy, your cameo and viola! This goes with color too: don’t be afraid to mix and match. Silver buckles on your shoes can go perfectly with the gold charms on your bag and bronze on your belt–just bring it all together with a chunky mixed necklace or bracelet. With all this hot metal going on simmer down your outfit with basic blacks and browns (remember the neutrals?). Think a black turtle neck with high waisted beige pants, a skinny belt, heels and lots of chunky chains and charms. Tres Chic!
